Lake Parramatta

Lake Parramatta, located in North Parramatta. Enter the reserve from Lackey Street via Bourke Street.

Lake Parramatta Reserve is recognised as one of the most significant and beautiful bushland remnants in Western Sydney. The reserve is open all year round, with the main gate opening at 6:30am and closed at 5:30pm (7:30pm during daylight saving).

Lake Parramatta is now open for public swimming and water recreation activities. The Australian Lifeguard Service will be on duty:

Weekends & public holidays (including Christmas and New Year’s Day) - 31 October 2015 to 13 March 2016 - 9am to 6pm

School holidays – 19 December 2015 to 26 January 2016 – every day (Monday to Sunday) - 9am to 6pm

At all other times people are advised to swim only in the designated swimming area, marked by buoys, and observe safe swimming practices.
As for most lakes or rivers around NSW, we recommend that people don't swim for three days following heavy rain, because of possible water quality issues. While Council has taken all necessary precautions to make swimming safe, it is important that people remember to look out for each other when swimming or boating.
